Starting April 1, 2020, about 90,000 Pennsylvanians will be at risk of losing their SNAP benefits. On that date, a new time limit will go into effect. Adults age 18-49 who are not living with children will only be able to get 3 months of SNAP every 3 years, unless they can show they meet a new work requirement or they are exempt for medical or other reasons. If an able-bodied adult without dependents (ABAWD) is not exempt, he or she must work 20 hours a week, or do community service for about 26 hours a month.
This webinar includes information about the rule, how people can comply, how they may qualify for an exemption, and what organizations can do to help.
