Does your county court have a method for correcting incorrect records? Does your state “central repository” report final case dispositions in two days, or in two years?
This webinar will examine the law and practice regarding public criminal records in the courts and, mostly, the central repositories. We will look at federal regulations governing:
- Accuracy (and the “access and review” process to challenge inaccurate records);
- Case disposition reporting; and
- Disseminations rules for public records.
These federal rules have led to the adoption of similar safeguards under state law, including in your state.
In addition, an author of the new “Survey of State Criminal History Information Systems, 2020” will talk with us how these rules actually play out in the states. Finally, we will talk about advocacy hooks for courts and central repositories that are not up to par.
