Social Worker
Margaret Monteiro, MSW (she/they) is a social worker at the Family Advocacy Unit. They previously interned at Nationalities Services Center’s Legal Unit where they provided a holistic and trauma-informed approach towards immigrant individuals and families. Currently, they advocate for the parents and families affected by the family regulation system as a person who also have a lived experience dealing with the same system in Philadelphia. They also advocate for trauma-informed and holistic approach in healthcare and language access. Margaret has dedicated their life in pursuit of amplifying the voices of marginalized clients and their communities. Margaret received their Master’s degree in Social Work from West Chester University. They also have a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Temple University.
