Ian Charlton is a Staff Attorney in the Landlord-Tenant unit at Community Legal Services. His project focuses on preventing evictions for low-income Philadelphians by enhancing Municipal Court procedures and increasing access to the Court. Ian was previously a legal intern in the Landlord-Tenant Unit at Community Legal Services, the Consumer Housing Unit at Philadelphia Legal Assistance, and the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project. Prior to entering law school, Ian worked at the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania through the AmeriCorps program as well as at Children’s Choice: Specialized Kinship, Foster Care, and Adoption Services.
Ian received the Public Interest Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Law Student Award in 2016 as well as the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association’s James J. Manderino Award for Outstanding Trial Advocacy upon graduating from law school.
Ian received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. He received his BA from Drexel University in 2012.
