Staff Attorney
Elizabeth Freed is a Supervising Attorney in the Housing Unit at Community Legal Services (CLS), where she represents indigent tenants facing eviction and other forms of housing insecurity. Elizabeth also co-chairs the CLS Eviction Diversion Program (EDP) Working Group, which focuses on supporting tenants in EDP and collaborating with EDP Partner organizations to strengthen and enforce the Program.
Prior to joining CLS, Elizabeth served as an Assistant Public Defender in Philadelphia for over 6 years, representing juveniles and adults accused of misdemeanors and felonies at various stages of the criminal process. She also served as law clerk to the Honorable Jan E. Dubois of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania between 2014-2015.
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a Robert and Jane Toll Public Interest Scholar. She received her B.A. from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University.
