David Wengert
As the social worker in the Housing Unit at Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, David Wengert advocates for tenant rights and fights homelessness by helping low-income families prevent eviction. He represents tenants at hearings, coordinates housing intake and organizes efforts to expand tenant rights. He organized and currently serves as the chair of the Philadelphia Hoarding Task Force. In addition to his work on behalf of tenants, David is the owner of a small real estate company that renovates abandoned homes in West Philadelphia.
Prior to CLS, David worked for many non-profit causes including the Campaign for Working Families, Pennsylvania Prison Society, Connections for the Homeless, American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, and Center on Halsted.
