Social Work Supervisor
Maggie Potter (she/her) is a Social Work Supervisor in the Family Advocacy Unit at Community Legal Services, where she has worked since 2012. Her role includes client casework, supervising FAU Social Workers and MSW student interns, community outreach, and policy advocacy. Some of her particular areas of interest include teen or young adult mothers, incarcerated mothers, trauma informed practice, and racial justice. In 2015, Maggie published a report on the state of kinship care as part of her work at CLS which can be found here. She also wrote a blog post in 2018 about the impact of trauma on parents in the child welfare system which you can read here. Before working at CLS, Maggie worked as a policy advocate and membership services specialist at the Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth and Family Services (PCCYFS). Prior to completing her Master’s degrees, she worked for Big Brothers Big Sister of Massachusetts Bay and the Children’s Law Center of Massachusetts.
Maggie has her dual Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Social Work and in Social Policy (MSW, MSSP). Maggie has a certification as a Trauma-Competent Professional through the Lakeside Global Institute in Philadelphia, where she completed 30 training sessions on trauma informed practice. Maggie has her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Williams College.
