Professional Experience
Katherine J. Gomez is the Deputy Director of Legal Practice for Community Legal Services Inc. (CLS). The Deputy Director of Legal Practice works as a member of a team of legal managers, ensuring CLS’ legal work is of the highest quality. In that role, she provides leadership and support to the team of Managing Attorneys for the units at CLS’ Center City office and the North Philadelphia Law Center and is the management point person where the legal work of certain units intersect. Ms. Gomez also works with the Executive Director and others to help oversee ongoing strategic planning, priority setting and resource allocation.
Additionally, Ms. Gomez currently serves as an appointed member of the Pennsylvania Interbranch Commission for Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Fairness.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Gomez was Managing Attorney of the Family Advocacy Unit (FAU) at CLS. The FAU represents hundreds of individual parents involved with the child welfare system, engages in larger systems advocacy and conducts professional and community education programs.
Ms. Gomez previously served as an appointed member of the PA Juvenile Court Procedural Rules Committee. She previously served on the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Family Law Section and Co-chaired the Dependency Sub-Committee.
She is a former NAPIL Equal Justice Fellow, a former Reuchlein Clinical Teaching Fellow and a former Adjunct Professor of Law at Villanova University.

Ms. Gomez was included in the 2010 Next Generation of Leadership: Rising Stars, presented by Super Lawyers.
Education
Ms. Gomez earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and her B.A. from Columbia University.
