Dawn Williams
Dawn is a native of Brooklyn, New York. She began her career at Philadelphia Legal Assistance where she was a Staff Attorney in the PLA Consumer Unit. Specializing in consumer bankruptcy ( both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13), mortgage foreclosure defense and anti- predatory mortgage lending, Dawn became the Supervising Attorney for the then Don’t Borrow Trouble Hotline which eventually became the Philadelphia Save Your Homes Hotline.
While at PLA, Dawn also became a Supervising Attorney for the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project where she trained volunteer attorneys on Chapter 7 bankruptcy and representing indigent clients. A
After working at PLA for seven years, Dawn became the Director of Housing for the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh heading up the organization’s largest department. In that role, Dawn also brought legal services to the Urban League starting the first of its kind mortgage foreclosure and anti- predatory lending housing counseling and legal representation program to the Urban League. Dawn also served as a legal writing professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dawn then went on to run her own private practice, specializing in consumer bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure defense, unemployment compensation and employment discrimination.
In July 2018, Dawn returned back to her passion for legal services as a Senior Staff Attorney in the Housing and Consumer Rights Unit specializing in real estate taxes. In October 2019, Dawn took on the role of the Managing Attorney for our North Philadelphia Law Center and Intake.
