Starting Monday, May 18th, Pennsylvania will accept applications for its new LIHEAP Recovery Crisis Program.
Eligible households could receive grants of up to $800 sent directly to their utility or fuel vendor. Grants are available to pay for heating or electric bills. You can also get help to fix broken heaters or other energy equipment.
You might be eligible if:
- you are responsible for heating costs, and
- your household income is below 150% of the federal poverty level (see chart),
AND
- your utility service is shut off, or
- you received notice that your utility service will be shut off within the next 60 days, or
- you will run out of fuel within 15 days, or
- you are behind on your utility bills, or
- your heater or other energy equipment is broken and needs to be fixed.

If you have already received LIHEAP Crisis this year, you will automatically receive $100 toward that utility or fuel vendor. You may still be eligible for some additional money if you have a current crisis.
This program will end once all funds are spent, so apply right away!
