Utilities companies in Philadelphia are not currently shutting off service during the COVID-19 crisis! If you are already without utility service during the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be able to have your utilities restored.
Electricity - PECO
PECO adopted a policy of restoring customers whose service is currently disconnected to ensure access to electric service during the COVID-19 pandemic. If your electric is off, call PECO at 1-800-494-4000 to request restoration of service. No new connection fees or deposits will be required to restore.
Water
The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) has adopted a policy of restoring water for all customers without water service as part of Philadelphia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Call PWD at (215) 685-6300 to schedule an appointment for restoration.
Gas - PGW
PGW has not adopted a specific COVID-19 policy of restoring customers without gas service. However, if you do not have PGW service, you should contact PGW to find out the best options to restore gas service. If you are low income or if you or someone in your household has experienced a loss or reduction in income due to COVID-19, you may qualify for grant assistance and discounted utility bills.
If you apply and enroll in PGW’s Customer Responsibility Program (CRP), PGW may restore service if you were shut off for non-payment of bills. For more information on PGW’s CRP, go to www2.pgworks.com/CRP. You can also call PGW at 215-235-1777 and ask whether they will give you a payment agreement on the balance you owe.
