Professional Experience
Thu B. Tran is a Senior Staff Attorney at Community Legal Services, where she has worked since 2004.
Professional Associations
Prior to CLS, Ms. Tran worked at Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society for four years, as an immigration attorney. She received a two-year Public Interest Fellowship from the Independence Foundation to represent persons seeking asylum. Prior to HIAS, she worked in legal services programs in Illinois, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, representing homeowners, tenants and homeless persons. Ms. Tran served on the Board of the Asian Arts Initiative, the Advisory Board of the Asian American Women’s Coalition and the Executive Committee of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and its Public Interest Section. A refugee from Vietnam, Ms.Tran came to the United States in 1975 and grew up in the Philadelphia area.
Awards
In 2011, Ms. Tran received the Philadelphia Bar Foundation Award, presented by the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.
Education
Ms. Tran graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and from Chicago Kent-College of Law in 1996.
