Josie B.H. Pickens
Professional Experience:
Ms. Pickens is a Supervising Attorney and co-director of CLS’s energy and utility practice where she advocates for affordable water and home energy services for low income Philadelphians through direct representation and policy reform. She has been an attorney in the Energy Unit since 2010. Ms. Pickens represents low income consumers in disputes to access and afford water, electric, and home heating service. She represents individual and group clients in local and statewide utility administrative proceedings.
Awards
From 2010-2012, Ms. Pickens was an Independence Foundation Public Interest Law Fellow with CLS’s Energy Unit. Her fellowship project focused on increasing the availability of energy efficiency resources for Philadelphia’s low income communities.
Education
Ms. Pickens is a 2010 graduate of Temple University’s Beasley School of Law and a 2005 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She is also a very proud graduate of West Philadelphia’s Overbrook High School.
